Early Childhood Development - Early Head Start, Enhanced Healthy Start, North and South Child Development Program

Speech Therapist, Kona & Ka'u

Essential Duties:  Provide assessments, evaluations and direct services.  The therapist will also provide consultation to other members of the child's team, incorporating language enrichment activities into home activities.

Qualifications/Requirements: A Master's Degree in Speech/Language Pathology and eligibility of clinical competence; state license required.  At least one year experience working with infants, toddlers and their families.

Occupational Therapist, Kona & Ka'u

Essential Duties:  Provide direct services as needed to infants, toddlers and their families and provide consultation to the primary interventionist working with the family.

Qualifications/Requirements: Graduation from school of occupational therapy approved by the council on Medical Education and Hospitals of the American Medical Association, including one year supervised occupational therapy work experience in a recognized private or public agency.  Current registration with the American Occupational Therapy Association and one year working with infants, toddlers, and their families.  Familiarity with home-based delivery model preferred.


Early Head Start

Family Advocate I, Waimea

Essential Duties: Assist with recruitment, assist families with the application process, enter application information to program date base and follow up with families on wait list.  Provide transportation for program activities and medical/social services appointments.  Make periodic home visits with Home Visitor in order to meet families and provide direct and supportive intervention to assist families in crises. Conduct and maintain vehicle inspections and maintenance logs.

Qualifications/Requirements: High School diploma or equivalent.  Must be wiling to work towards the attainment of a degree in Early Childhood Education.  Must have ability to operate computers and possess basic knowledge of MS Office Suite and database software.  Bi-lingual-English/Marshallese.  10 hours per week.

Family Assessment Worker, Kona & Waimea

Essential Duties: Under the direct supervision of an Early Head Start Supervisor, implements the Family Assessment component of the Early Head Start Early Identification program, in keeping with program productivity standards and quality assurance procedures.  Provides information and referral services on a limited basis to families during the perinatal period who are in need of additional assistance.

Qualifications/Requirements: High School Diploma or equivalent plus one year experience early childhood program serving infants and toddlers preferred. Bi-lingual in Spanish or Marshallese preferred.  2-Part-time positions @20 hours per week.

Substitute Caregiver Aide, Kona (Casual On-Call Position)

Essential Duties:  Assist lead Teacher to promote parent child-bonding and nurture the parent child relationship while performing a variety of instruction and training activities that support and provide an educational environment for infants and toddlers.

Qualifications/Requirements: High School diploma or equivalent plus one year experience in an early childhood program serving infants and toddlers.

Malama Perinatal Program

Registered Nurse, Hilo (Part Time) & Kona (Full- Time)

Essential Duties:  Provide culturally appropriate and relationship-based health and psychosocial assessments, health education, and support to pregnant women and their families. Work in a team environment to understand the needs and strengths of the participants and the resources they need.

 Qualifications/Requirements: Registered to practice in the state of Hawaii and experience in community health. BLS/First Aid/CPR certified.
